I moved here to marry my husband. Now he wants a divorce and I am living alone and don’t have any friends and don’t know how to make friends. (It doesn’t help that my self confidence is pretty undermined by my husband rejecting me.) Plus, I get really anxious in social situations and haven’t been able to find a church where I feel like I fit in and can connect with people. I know it sounds pathetic, but that’s where I am. I would like God to help me make a friend or two and to have some Christian support for fellowship, discipleship, and accountability.

Joanna, what you are saying is far from pathetic. I know I have been there and I am sure many others have too. One of the best things that has helped me is to find a place in the community where I can volunteer. Also once you do find a church see if they have small groups that you can attend during the week. It makes it easier to connect with people.
