There are many negative things you can turn to when going through a difficult time in your life. Many people turn to food, alcohol, new relationships or the never-ending pity party. However, you don’t have to make a bad situation worse by doing things that will hurt you in the long-term.
After a divorce, relationship problems can linger on and on, especially if you have a hard time letting go of the past or if there are children involved. It can be a very depressing time in a person’s life; emotions are all over the place. Sometimes it is difficult to find hope and move on with our lives. During difficult times we overlook the power of music and how it affects our mood.

Over the years I have developed this life philosophy that from the day we are born we enter the school of hard knocks. Every time we step out our front door we can anticipate learning a lesson in one form or another.
It seems that those that are the closest to us, the ones that love us the most, end up disappointing us the most. There is no doubt about it; life is hard at times but just like with seasons of the year the hard times pass in time AND they inevitably return.
We all go through different degrees of trials, pain, and suffering in our lives and it is this that builds our character, that makes us survivors, and that makes us moldable into the people we were destined to be. Remember, “What doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger” and “God NEVER gives us more than we can handle.”

There are those people that seem to attract everything they want in life easily; power, wealth, success, love, and happiness all seem to be at their fingertips. Then there are those that acquire these things with great difficulty and some fail altogether to reach their ambitions, desires, and goals. Why is this? It isn’t a physical trait else everyone with perfect bodies and fantastic physical health would be the most successful. The difference, therefore, must be in the mind – it must be mental. If you think about everything you have and haven’t done, everything you wished you could do but didn’t – it would likely boil down to the mental obstacles that you have placed in your path.
I know many of you are struggling right now with your thoughts and feelings. Rightly so; a divorce is a traumatic event, and it will go after your mental faculties, and if unchecked it will take you down to new depths. Depths that will prevent you from obtaining the things you desire and the life you deserve as a child of God.

God gave us our mind and body for a reason, and they can be a powerful tool in changing how we feel. I am not talking about avoidance or denial; I am talking about choosing to feel different, to feel happy. Our body can influence our emotions if we are moping and slouched over you may find yourself depressed and sad. Think about the next time you feel sad or if you can remember the last time what your body was doing. Try pulling your shoulders back, sitting up straight, take a few deep breaths, and SMILE.
